My Story

As part of next half term’s Charity Challenge, we will be taking part in the “Big Lent Walk” for CAFOD.

The challenge is to walk 200km in 40 days to help fight global poverty.

Our plan is for each child Years R-6 to walk approximately 2.4 km during Lent, thus collectively walking 200km. If possible, we would like children to gain sponsorship for their walk. All money raised will go to CAFOD.

Lent is the 40 days between Wednesday 22 February and Thursday 6 April. During this period, all children will be mini-bused in groups up to the “Tall Trees Trail” on the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, Brockenhurst, which is a short trail of 2.4km (1.5 miles). Year R will have a shorter, adapted route.

The circular trail has towering firs and redwoods planted amongst it, which are some of the tallest trees in the New Forest. The ancient trees are some of the most beautiful in the local area!

CAFOD works with local partners and communities across the world - responding to emergencies, promoting long-term development and raising public awareness of the causes of poverty. We work with people of all faiths and none for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.
